Directions

 

1) DIRECTIONS TO BAYREUTH

 

- by plane

 

The nearest airport is Nuremburg. From there you can find good train connections to Bayreuth. Other possible airports include Munich, Frankfurt/Main, Berlin, or Stuttgart.

 

- by train

 

There is a train each hour from Nuremburg to Bayreuth. The departure times and tracks are found on the yellow train plans in the train station. Possible train connections can also be found here.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Sometimes the train to Bayreuth is divided in the city of Pegnitz. One part goes to Bayreuth and the other to Hof. Pay attention, that you are on the correct part of the train (in the car and inside over the door you should see "Bayreuth").

 

- by car

 

Bayreuth is directly on the Autobahn A9 Nürnberg - Berlin.

 

• Take the exit "Bayreuth Süd".
• Follow the signs "Bayreuth" - "Bayreuth Zentrum" - "Universität".
• Turn left into the premises of the university and then again quickly to the right
• Follow the street and turn right after 50 meters into the parking lot. Leave your car here. 
• Walk further in the same direction and follow the left curve to the bus stop "Universität/Mensa". From here follow the signs to the course office. 

 

 

2) FROM THE TRAIN STATION TO THE COURSE OFFICE

  

At the main arrival times, employees of the summer university will be at the train station to meet you.

 

- by bus: Bahnhof - ZOH - Mensa

 

• When you leave the train station, cross the street.
• Go to the left, until you are right in front of the "Löwenapotheke" at the bus stop.
• There you can take more buses, to ride to the ZOH (the central bus stop): Bus No. 303 (in the direction of "Klinikum"), Bus No. 305 (in the direction of "Meyernberg Nord") or Bus No. 309 (In the direction of Meyernberg Süd).
• You can buy the ticket from the driver. It is valid to the university and costs 1.70 €.
• Get off at the ZOH.
• Take the line 306 bus (in the direction of "Hohlmühle/Campus") or the line 304 bus("Universität/Mensa").
• Get off at the stop "Universität/Mensa".
• Follow the signs "Sommeruniversität Kursbüro" (Summer University Course Office, Room No. 90 in the building GWI).

 

The last bus from the ZOH to the campus leaves at 7 pm.

If you arrive at the Bayreuth train station after 7 pm, we recommend that you take a taxi.

 

- by taxi (after 7 pm)

 

There are taxis waiting at the train station. Tell the driver that you want to go to the "Mensa der Universität". The ride costs arround 7.50 €.
