Academic Seminars

The seminar is a typical form of teaching at German universities. Within the Summer University of Bayreuth, seminars with current topics of the following academic areas are offered: literature, politics, economics, and intercultural German studies.

You gain immediate insight into German research and academic communication. If you wish to study at a German university, this is of particular relevance to you. The material of the seminars tie in with academic lectures or presentations, which you may attend within the intercultural language course.

Literature Café

A good book, a glass of wine, a pleasant place, and stimulating company - what more does a friend of literature want?

All participants in the summer university interested in literature meet in the beautiful Bayreuth Cafés once a week and read together excerpts from literary works. The accompanying discussions are always fascinating and informative.

In recent years, works from authors such as Sigmund Freud, Martin Walser, and Günther Grass were on the agenda, as well as the topics "migrant literature" and "autobiographies".

Journalistic work: Compile the Summer Uni Blog

Work like editorial staff: all participants with a journalistic streak may express their writing talents. The attendees develop the concept, content, and layout of the "digital course newspaper" themselves. An editorial meeting will take place once a week to discuss emerging articles and contributions.

Since 2010, the journalism workshop has been a digital media workshop and the Summer Uni Blog has come to life. Enjoy reading our blog!
