who we are

Our Association in the University-town of Bayreuth

The Institute for International Communication and Foreign Cultural Work (IIK Bayreuth e.V.) was founded in 1990 by representatives of the departments of German as a foreign language (intercultural German studies), sociology and economics at the University of Bayreuth.

For decades, the IIK in Bayreuth has been working with many different institutes and universities worldwide and is continually expanding and strengthening these partnerships.

The IIK Bayreuth is a non-profit association. You can read the statute here.

What we do

Our fields of activity

Bayreuth summer university

The focus of the IIK Bayreuth`s activities is on practical international cooperation. This includes the annual event known as Bayreuth Summer Universityfor Intercultural German Studies on behalf of the University of Bayreuth.

Intercultural training and further education courses

Intercultural training and various further training courses for teachers on the didactics of German as a foreign and second language round off the offer.

German courses for students

The IIK Bayreuth offers preparatory and accompanying German courses all year round. With these courses, the IIK Bayreuth aims to support international students in improving their language skills, coping with everyday life in German and integrating themselves optimally into their university environment.

German courses for work

The IIK Bayreuth also offers preparatory and accompanying German courses for professionals throughout the year. These courses are designed to help working people improve their language skills, cope with everyday life and integrate optimally into their professional environment. We offer separate courses for the medical sector.
